Jacks And Corn

Halloween is upon us and I just HAD to have my nails ready. I started working again so I feel my nails should always look pretty and be noticeable. Check out my "Jacks and Corn" Jamicure.

How to get the look:

What I used:
I used Jamberry Wrap Jacks And Corn from the Jamberry JR's section.
     (I love that all the jacks have different faces!!)

I made the glittery accents myself. Here's how:

I hate that nail polish doesn't last long and always chips within 24 hours so I used gel because its more durable. I used the kind that does NOT require a UV light, but if your prefer you can use a UV light.

For the base coat I used:

ACI Bridge The Ridge: Ridge filling basecoat.

What I used for the TopCoat:

ACI Gelous: Advanced Nail Gel Coat

Both Basecoat and Topcoat where purchased at Sally's Beauty Supply for $5.99 each.

Step by step how to:

1) Make sure your nails are clear of polish and dirt
2) Clean your nails with rubbing alcohol to remove all the oils
3) Apply wraps to chosen fingers in your own pattern.
4) For glittery accent nails paint 1 layer of basecoat and let it dry.
5) Add a second coat of base then sprinkle chosen glitter over wet nail, let dry.
6) Paint a third layer of basecoat and sprinkle more glitter and let dry again. (just wait a few minutes between coats and you should be fine.)
7) You'll need two layers of topcoat. Remember to wait a few minutes between coats.
8)Show off your sparkly beautiful nail!

I absolutely love the way this Jamicure turned out.

Why I Love Jamberry

I love having my nails pretty and "perfect" but I hate all the time I have to spend keeping them that way. Nail polish is such a hassle:

1) You apply 2 or more coats, letting them dry between coats.

2) You clear coat them and have drying time again.

3) You have that awful smell thats hazardous to your health and your kids.

And for what? To have them start chipping not 24 hours later??

I'm lucky if my nail polish doesn't chip within the first 24 hours. Being a mom to two small children I don't have all the time it takes to paint my nails. I have to wait until the kids go down at bedtime to sit down and do my nails and then I pray they don't wake otherwise I know my nails will be ruined. At the end of the day Im already exhausted and don't want to stay up for 2 hours just for my nails so I end up walking around with chipped and missing polish.

Well I was skeptical at first. I'm shelling out $15 for one sheet of nails. I bought one sheet to try and guess what? I LOVED them! They were so easy to put on that my 5 year old daughter was right there with me the whole time playing with the little peices that I cut of during trimming. She was able to do a few of hr own nails. My 2 year old son even came in and sat down on my lap in the middle of my jamicure. It was nice to be able to still play with them while doing my nails. Even with playing with the kids, it only took 15 min to do all my fingers and I was left with pretty sparkly raspberry nails. I saved myself at least an hour and 45 min and didn't loose any quality time with my kids. I didn't have to push them away or lock the door to keep them away from a toxic smell because with Jamberry there is no toxic smell! And with a son who had Chronic Lung Disease and Asthma, that's very important to me. 

Jamberry Nail shields are a thin layer of vinyl so  their durable. On fingers they can last 2-4 weeks depending on how rough you are on your hands, and 4-6 weeks on your toes. Their safe to use on children and with the no dry time you know you can safely do your little girls nails without having to worry that your'll find nail polish smeared through the house.
